"Men are strong, Jack. But the Tiger is Stronger." Stavros (Mickey Rourke) to Jack (Jean-Claude Van Damme) in the battle Royale.
|
Enraged over the death of his son, Stavros rightly seeks vengance on Jack Quinn. Ruthlessly, he taunts the
counter-terrorist agent who is trapped on The Colony, a place for `dead' agents. Wanting nothing but revenge,
he will go to extreme lengths to avenge the death of an innocent boy who happened to be at a carnival for a
visit with his dad. In the end, although the movie gives the impression that Jack and Yaz , (played by Dennis
Rodmen), defeat Stavros, the audience is gravely mistaken.
Stavros is still alive when the boys make their retreat, leaving him standing on an anti-personelle land mine.
He made his own choice to die and took the one animal that killed his son with him. The Tiger.
Double Team was filmed on location in Nice, Alps-Maritimes, France and Rome, Lazio, Italy. The
background flavor of this movie more than makes up for the fumbling of Jean Claude Van Damme and
Dennis Rodman. But then again, the reviewer in this case favors Mickey Rourke and the Tiger over the other
two any day of the week. *grin*
